Embrace the rhythmic beat of a Caribbean night as you gently sway to a steel band. The stars really appear center stage for night shows featuring the excitement of top rate entertainers and the thrill of authentic island culture. And during talent night the tables turn and it is you that becomes the star.

A group of three or four costume players doing traditional Jamaican folk music. Mento music is fore-runner to Modern Jamaican music. Instruments include banjo and / or guitar, congo drum, maracas and rumbas box. At least one instrument player doubles as a singer. Throughout the West Indies, the term "Calypso band" is popular for folk mini bands, but in Jamaica it is specifically called "Mento band".

Groups vary in size from four players to twenty utilizing converted 50 gallon oil steel drum pans as the main instrument. Groups can play a wide range of music. Most groups add an electric guitar or regular set to facilitate certain rhythms. Steel band music developed in Trinidad and is practiced throughout the Caribbean, particularly in the Eastern Caribbean. The music is spirited and tropical.

A conventional terminology for a typical Jamaican pop band. Usually four to six players on keyboard, drums, bass and guitar. Bands, while very comfortable in the homegrown reggae music idiom, are versatile and play all forms of popular music. Each band includes at least one lead vocalist with some instrument players also doubling as vocalists.

Jamaican Jazz bands vary in size from two to three players and are patterned off the U.S. Jazz forms with its characteristic improvisation, syncopation and regular and forceful rhythms. The Jamaican jazz band's repertoire also include material composed in the Caribbean region
