Sir Oliver Simmonds founded Nassau's fashionable Balmoral Club back in the 1940's. Every dignitary from past Presidents to the famous and infamous were honored guests. Yet it was most adored by The Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Edward VIII made British history when he sacrificed the throne to marry his true love––the American, Wallis Simpson. As Duke––and Governor of the Bahamas––he was so enamored with the Club, he located his offices here. Together, this regal couple transformed it into a year-round epicenter for high society.
