Sandals Whitehouse Signs on to Deaf Tourism

February 25, 2015 - Sandals Resorts - Jamaica

When you experience a good thing, you keep coming back for more. This could be why Sandals Resorts experiences such high levels of return guests – and that goes for groups too! One of the latest groups to return on a Luxury Included® Vacation was a group of 30 Deaf and Hard of Hearing guests, who were proudly hosted by Sandals Whitehouse on the south coast of Jamaica. This adventure-filled trip took this group of 30 on various Island Routes tours from visiting YS Falls in St. Elizabeth to cruising along the coast to Pelican Bar and cooling off with a dip at Dolphins Cove in Hanover.

At Sandals Resorts, there are no boundaries to great service – even language! To ensure that this group received the high level of service that Sandals is known for, staff members Calt Lewis and Nateana Barnes, who hosted the same group last year at Sandals Negril, trained the Sandals Whitehouse staff in basic sign language greetings and welcomes – making each guest feel right at home.

The Sandals Foundation was also instrumental in hosting this group of 30 Deaf and Hard of Hearing guests, connecting them with Jamaica’s deaf community through a visit to the Maranatha School for the Deaf. The Foundation has long supported the Caribbean’s deaf community, making this the perfect setting for our visiting group!

With the support of the Sandals Foundation, the Global Deaf Connection, Junior Achievement and Kerstin Fox of Kerstin’s Deaf Travel, Sandals Resorts looks forward to hosting this group again next year for an even more exhilarating Luxury Included® Vacation! Next stop – Sandals LaSource Grenada!
