Document it! Review and gather all the necessary documentation and legal requirements for your chosen island destination to ensure your wedding can be formalized and legally performed.

Marriage Documentation Requirements

The documents process can be a confusing and complicated one, but with our team of document specialists, the process is made simple and as stress–free as possible. Remember that each island is unique and requirements vary slightly from island to island sometimes changing with little notice! Your Caribbean destination wedding coordinator and your document specialist can answer any questions you have about the documents required for each island. The experience of having your wedding on a gorgeous, tropical island is well worth the effort!

Jamaica

Requirements for JAMAICA

  • Notarized copies of (original) state-issued birth certificate.

  • Court certified final divorce decree.

  • Legal name changes or legal adoption papers, if applicable.

  • State issued death certificates with related marriage certificates.

  • Residency requirement (48 hours*)

  • Notarized copy valid government issued photo id or driver’s license.

  • An original notarized sworn affidavit referring to documents specifically may be provided to accompany photocopy of documents.

  • Marriage license and administrative fee (US$95.00)

*48 hours residency requirement must include 2 days which include day of arrival, weekend or holidays. example: friday arrivals can be married on sunday.

Final payment on wedding options is due sixty (60) days prior to arrival.

Cancellations made at least forty-five (45) days prior to arrival are fully refundable, except for non-refundable items including but not limited to certain deposits, administrative fees, custom third-party vendor items, external event suppliers and photography, entertainment, etc.

Floral Purchases are NON-REFUNDABLE or transferable if cancelled within 45 days of arrival.

Bahamas

Requirements for BAHAMAS

  • Residency requirement (48 hours*)

  • Marriage license and administrative fee (US$310.00)

*48 Hours residency requirement must include 2 business days. Not including day of arrival, weekends or holidays. No Sunday Weddings at Sandals Emerald Bay, Exuma. Example Friday arrivals can be married on Wednesday.

Final payment on wedding options is due sixty (60) days prior to arrival.

Cancellations made at least forty-five (45) days prior to arrival are fully refundable, except for non-refundable items including but not limited to certain deposits, administrative fees, custom third-party vendor items, external event suppliers and photography, entertainment, etc.

*72 hours residency requirement must include 3 business days, excluding day of arrival, weekends, and holidays. no sunday weddings. example: friday arrivals can be married on the following thursday. monday arrivals can be married on friday. or 48-hour express wedding for additional us$341.00 fee, which must include 2 business days (this includes day of arrival). example: monday arrival can be married wednesday after 12 noon.

  • Sworn affidavit attesting that neither party has not been married before.

  • Government / Administrative fee (US$180.00)

  • Sworn affidavit or letter from a clergyman, Lawyer, Registry or Notary Public; must be on letterhead with applicable notarization stamps, seals, etc. Attesting that neither party has not been previously married.

*72 Hours residency requirement includes day of arrival, weekends and holidays, prior to applying for marriage license offsite and 1‐3 days for processing of license application. Example: Friday arrivals can be married on the following Thursday. Monday arrivals can be married on Friday. Or 48-hour express wedding for additional US$190.00 fee to expedite, which must include one (1) business day. Example: Monday arrival can be married on Wednesday after 12 noon

  • Marriage license and administrative fee (US$325.00)

*48 hours residency requirement must include 2 days which include day of arrival. excludes weekends or public holidays. couples must go offsite to obtain application for marriage license.
