Best Times to Book Excursions for Ideal Weather

The best time to book excursions in Curaçao is during the dry season which runs between January and September. January to April is peak season for this destination and tends to see the best weather. This means little to no rain and warm temperatures, ideal for snorkeling, diving, off-roading, and spending time at the island’s national parks.

May to September is still on the dry side with less crowds. This is a good time to head to Curaçao for a beach getaway and maybe even to secure all-inclusive vacation deals. As Curaçao is outside of the hurricane belt, you can visit this island pretty much any time of year to embark on exciting tours and excursions.

As for the best time of day for excursions in Curaçao, go for a morning tour (between 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. for activities like off-roading and boat tours. This works out as temperatures are slightly cooler earlier in the day. Afternoon tours are ideal for things like snorkeling, diving and beach trips, although it can be hotter around this time of day. Sunset tours are best for sailing trips, dinner cruises, or scenic coastal drives.

What to Pack and What to Expect

packing for vacation

Most people associate the Caribbean with summer clothes, but packing for a trip to this destination isn’t always that simple. For one, “summer clothes” can mean different things to different people. Your itinerary also plays a key role—what you have planned for your vacation might be entirely different from someone else’s, which can greatly impact what you pack.

Seasonal considerations matter, too. Some islands experience what we like to call “Caribbean chilly” temperatures during the months that would be winter elsewhere. January and February, for example, can be a bit windy in certain destinations, though always with that signature Caribbean warmth.

Before you even start packing, take a moment to visualize your trip. What activities do you have planned? Will you be attending formal events, fine dining, or even a beach wedding? If so, you’ll need more than just casual summer clothes—you’ll want formal attire and appropriate shoes as well. This is a great starting point for packing, and the earlier you begin, the better!
